Leaving Social Media Update 1
Facebook and all other social media have been removed from my devices. I have deleted all of my social media accounts completely. Facebook will follow soon.
Social Media and the internet have a suffocating effect on this planet.
It has forever changed how we interact, think, talk, and play.
It has done grave damage to the youngest among us, twisting their minds.
We are more exposed than we realize. Algorithms keep track of what you say, why you say it, and to whom you say it.
Most don't know that your devices always listen, record, and track everything. Even when you think they are off, they are not.
We have gleefully invited these invaders into our private lives. We think people who say what I'm saying are crackpots or that they wear tin foil hats.
Call me a crazy kook if you must. It doesn't matter to me. By the end of the year, I will vanish from cyberspace for good.
I will use the internet as a tool going forward. But I will have tight controls on how the internet uses me.
I'm not out to prove anything. Only a few select people will even notice my absence. My time here will be like white noise, barely noticeable. In a very short time, even that will fade from memory.
My blog will stay up for a little while. I will do my best to document this journey I am on, and leaving social media will be only the tip of the iceberg and the easiest part of my plans. I want to be a guide of sorts to those who wish to take a similar journey.
I'm sure I'll make mistakes. There will also be a bit of trial and error in this task. But no matter the difficulty, I am sure this journey is worth taking, even if I do it alone.
